June 2nd 2017 marks an important day in the life of Charlie Fink. His first solo album, Cover My Tracks, was released this morning. Formerly the lead singer of one of my favourite bands, Noah and the Whale, Charlie has embarked on a solo career with great success. He describes his singing as “melancholy mumbling over meaningful music” and this album sums it up. It’s calming. It’s peaceful. It’s pleasant. It’s relaxing. My only criticism is that a lot of the songs are a little short: they don’t reach 3 minutes, so we’re missing out on quality Charlie singing. Other than that I love it. It’s a shame I live up North, so I can’t visit the performance of this album at the Old Vic Theatre in London. Charlie, if you ever read this, don’t change. You’re fab.
